Everyone has potential and The Limerick Academy of Performing Arts offers music classes to suit everyone, ranging from Irish Traditional Music, Jazz, Classical and Rock.

Pre-Instrument Class

Starting with the 4-7 year olds, a special class is in place to introduce music and the making of music to young children, developing their knowledge and interest in music. The tutor has studied music education for children for many years and while she practices such teaching methods as Suzuki, Curwen and Kodaly, her experience has shown her that each child or group have different requirements.  With this in mind, the students are assessed and teaching methods are adapted to suit the class so every student will received the maximum benefit and appreciation of music.

All Other Music Classes

For the young children progressing from the Pre-Instrument class above, for the older children, and for the young teenagers, classes are available in all instruments to further develop their talents and love in music. Group classes are also available however these do depend on the number of students.

Not forgetting the more mature student, music classes are also available for those who wish to fulfil a childhood dream to learn a musical instrument, or revive their interest in music.

As our ethos is to have fun, it is not our belief that students should be forced to take examinations, however, it is encouraged. Our tutors will support and help students who wish to pursue music for the Junior or Leaving Certificates and also students who wish to take the various Music Board Examinations.  Music theory is covered in all our music classes however all of our students have the option to take an extra music theory class (at no extra cost).  This is an option which increases a students ability to understand music and is of special benefit for those students who are taking the examination route.
